Krista DuChene comfortably won Hamilton’s Around The Bay 30K for the second time on Sunday. Her time of 1:47:13 was more than seven minutes ahead of second place finisher Lisa Avery of Orillia, Ont. Sarah Nagy of Newmarket, Ont. placed third in 1:57:58. She was also the first female master finisher. Krista DuChene wins the women’s race at Around the Bay in #HamOnt. Kimugul has also won a few other notable Canadian races, including the Vancouver Sun Run 10K, which is Canada’s largest running event. Kip Kangogo of Lethbridge, Alta. came in second in 1:37:35. Josephat Ongeri, another Kenyan ex-pat racing primarily in Canada, was in third in 1:39:42. Montreal’s Amor Dahbi was the top master in 1:45:01. .@bridgetwaits crossing the finish line. The race was first run in 1894 and has grown to 9,000 runners in the 30K alone, along with 2,500 participants in the 5K. Peter Corrigan of Toronto won the 5K for a second straight year in 14:29. Kate Van Buskirk, who is our May/June cover athlete and a top track runner in Canada, won the women’s 5K in 16:18.
